A long-standing tradition within NASA and JPL is the release of commemorative enamel pins, accompanied by a letter from the director's office. Events such as launches, landings, milestones and mission anniversaries are cause for the design and limited distribution of these pins among employees. In some cases, additional pins are produced for outreach purposes or for sale at NASA/ JPL gift shops.

Adorned with imagery that represents the missions they celebrate, these enamel pins have become collectibles among JPLers and space enthusiasts alike. They serve as commemorative tokens for these historic moments and form a timeline of JPL/ NASA's accomplishments throughout the years.
